Rotary klub Písek je jedním z mála klubů, které vznikly ve dvacátých letech 20. století. Podle dochovaného seznamu členů byl klub založen 9. 1. 1928 a charterován 10. 8. 1928 s počtem 18 zakládajících členů. Je zajímavé, že prvním prezidentem se stal Ing. Emanuel Trča, sekretářem byl Ondřej Birndt a Václav Pácal nejen že byl zakládajícím členem, ale také založil rodinnou tradici členství v klubu. V současnosti je jeho pravnuk již několik let aktivním členem klubu.
Fotografie z roku 1938, pravděpodobně pořízená při oslavě desátého výročí klubu, je dalším důkazem existence a činnosti píseckého klubu. Na snímku je zachyceno 22 rotariánů.
Během války byly aktivity klubu zrušeny a až po osvobození republiky byl klub v roce 1946 znovu obnoven. Bohužel, toto obnovení bylo krátkodobé. K další a doufejme, že k trvalé obnově klubu, došlo pod patronací rakouského klubu Linz-Urfahr dne 6. 6. 1991. Rakouský klub pomohl vytvořit z píseckého klubu aktivní klub, který je otevřený pro muže i ženy. Po vzniku Distriktu 2240 tak byl klub připraven se stát jeho nedílnou součástí. Přátelství s klubem Linz-Urfahr je stále živé díky pravidelným výročním návštěvám a společným výletům.
Klub je známý pro svou rozsáhlou výměnu mládeže, štědrou charitativní činnost a zájem o zdravotní a sociální problémy ve společnosti a jejich řešení. V školním roce 2023/2024 klub hostí dvě zahraniční studentky, Mariu z Brazílie a Kelly z USA. Přejeme jim příjemný rok v České republice.
The Rotary Club of Písek is one of the few Czech clubs founded in the twenties of the 20th century. According to the preserved list of members, the club was founded in Písek on January 9, 1928, and its charter was issued on August 20 of the same year. It is worth mentioning that the first president was Emanuel Trča, his secretary was Ondřej Birndt and that Václav Pácal was not only a founding member but also the founder of a family succession of the Písek club. His great-grandson has been an active member of the club.
The next document confirming the existence and activity of our club is a photo, probably taken when the club celebrated its 10th anniversary. There are 22 members in the photo.
During the Second World War the club and all its activities were banned, and only in 1946 the club was re-established. Unfortunately, because of the communist regime, it was only for a short time.
Let's hope that the last re-establishment of our club, which took place on June 6, 1991 under the patronage of Linz-Urfahr, will be long-lasting. This Austrian club contributed to the creation of an active club in Písek, open to both men and women, so that after the creation of District 2240 it was ready to become an indispensable part of it. The friendship between the clubs of Linz-Urfahr and Písek has been maintained to this day thanks to our regular and mutual visits.
Our club is known for its long and successful youth exchange, generous and regular charity donations, and its concern for health and social problems and their solutions.
