Dear Rotarians, dear Friends of Rotary,
We are delighted to bring you the latest edition of our Newsletter.
Let me begin by recalling 28 October 1918, when the independent Czechoslovak state was proclaimed as one of the successor states to Austria-Hungary. Tomáš G. Masaryk became the first Czechoslovak president on 14 November 1918. I wish all of us Czechoslovak children a wonderfully enjoyable holiday!
What does the new issue have in store? We open with the first part of the Rotary Manual of Procedure 2025, the essential guide for every Rotarian, published every three years. Please pay attention to the continuing series of parts from the Manual of Procedure 2025 in our newsletter.
Let me also remind you of the Rotary Foundation qualification seminar, which will take place online on 15 November. The registration form can be found in the relevant article.
November is the month when prospective exchange students meet for the first time. The first RYE CZ gathering will be held, as usual, in Třebíč, with the second in Kroměříž. You will find more details in the articles below.
The Rotary programme over the coming days and weeks is truly packed, so do not miss the clubs’ invitations to the traditional tasting of this year’s young wine, a benefit concert, a charity auction or a golf tournament.
We will be happy to publish your invitations or other contributions - please send them to one of the following addresses: Katarina.Cechova@cechova.sk or maja.smrckova@seznam.cz.
I wish you inspiring reading and look forward to meeting you in person at one of our events. Thank you for helping us make the world a better place!
Yours in Rotary,
Marie Smrčková

The Manual of Procedure 2025 serves as an essential guide for all Rotary leaders and members who wish to better understand the constitutional and governance framework of Rotary International. Published every three years following the Council on Legislation, it provides the official reference for the organization’s structure, policies, and operational procedures.
The manual includes key governance documents such as the RI Constitution, RI Bylaws, Standard Rotary Club Constitution, Recommended Rotary Club Bylaws, and the Bylaws of The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International.
Each Rotary club and officer receives an electronic copy, and in case of any ambiguity or interpretation, the English-language version remains the official text. Additional policies and procedures can be found in the Rotary Code of Policies and The Rotary Foundation Code of Policies at my.rotary.org.
This manual stands as a reliable reference and a practical companion for all Rotarians committed to service, integrity, and leadership.
In our District Newsletter, we will gradually introduce you to the fundamental Rotary documents.

Rotary Club Bratislava Danube in cooperation with Rotary Club Kyiv-Sophia support projects for Ukrainian children and youth affected by war – bringing hope, education, and opportunities to those who need them most.
On the third weekend in October, Třebíč transformed into a centre of Rotary joy and fellowship. From Friday 17 to Sunday 19 October we celebrated, together, three decades of service and friendship that our club has tirelessly cultivated since 1995. Below is a brief look back at a weekend that - we hope - left everyone with only fond memories.
On Thursday 16 October it will be exactly two months since I packed my suitcase and set off for a year in Belgium. It will also be roughly three weeks since I last got in touch… oops! (I might write this up in more detail, so there could be several blog posts covering those three weeks—let’s see. You certainly have something to look forward to!)
As I mentioned in my previous blog, last week I took part in the 800-kilometre Tour de OROC bike ride, and only a few days later I’m back with a wealth of new experiences to share. So, let’s dive in!
On Monday the ride was officially launched at Macquarie Homestay—the very reason the Tour de OROC exists—before heading towards Warren, 130 kilometres away. And to be honest, I had no idea what I was really in for. Many people already know that my expectations were something like this: I’d see the Australian bush, do a bit of cycling, and by the third day I’d probably end up in the support vehicle.
I can say straight away that I couldn’t have been more wrong. Not only did I complete the entire ride without a single break in the support car, but the cycling itself turned into something a thousand times more rewarding, and the bush was far from the only thing I got to see.
I am truly grateful for everything I am experiencing here. While I’m on the topic, I should mention that this weekend in Canada was Thanksgiving. I would therefore like to thank Rotary for providing this exchange opportunity and my mum for her incredible support! I also want to give thanks for all the friendships I have made here, for the wonderful host family I have gained and, really, for everything.
Rotarians from 21 European international clubs (that is, clubs with “International” in their name) from in total 15 countries gathered in Vienna to discuss new forms of cooperation, innovative projects, and the future of Rotary in a changing world.
The working sessions brought many inspiring ideas, the exchange of experiences strengthened the bonds between clubs, and a festive dinner concluded the weekend in a spirit of unity and friendship.
Orientation Meeting I - the first gathering for prospective participants and their parents interested in a long-term exchange stay in the 2026/2027 school year - will take place on Sunday, 9 November 2025, from 9:00 to 18:00 at the usual venue, the Grand Hotel in Třebíč.
The event is organised by Rotary Youth Exchange Czechia and Rotex
