Call to Clubs in District 2240 for the Nomination of Candidates for the Position of Governor of District 2240 for the Rotary Year 2027-2028
Dear Members of the Rotary Clubs in District 2240,
On behalf of the Nominating Committee, I would like to request that you, in accordance with the Articles of Incorporation of Rotary International and the rules of the nomination process, submit proposals for candidates for the position of District Governor for the period 2027-2028 on behalf of your clubs.
The Nominating Committee is prepared to accept proposals from clubs until midnight on 28th February 2025, in electronic form at the email address iljach@volny.cz or in written form via registered mail to: MUDr. Ilja Chocholouš, Schnirchova 30, 170 00 Prague 7, or by personal delivery by any member of the Nominating Committee after prior notification of this method of delivery to the aforementioned email address.
To meet the established rules, the proposed candidate must be an active member of a fully functioning Rotary club in District 2240 and must have served a full term as club president or as the first president of the club for a minimum of six months. At the time of serving, the member must have been a Rotary member for at least 7 years. The proposing club must not be in debt to RI or the district.
The club should verify during discussions with the proposed candidate whether they are prepared to assume the role of governor and that they are aware of the prerequisites for performing this function. This includes the candidate's ability to meet the intellectual, physical, and financial demands placed on the governor's position and their commitment to accept the responsibilities associated with it.
Clubs should avoid any actions that could be interpreted as campaigning for their candidate, their promotion, or any other forms of preferential treatment. If the candidate becomes aware of any activities conducted in their favour, they must distance themselves from them and inform all interested parties.
In accordance with the resolution of the Governor's Council from January 2006, it is required that the candidate for governor provide a negative clearance certificate (for candidates from the Czech Republic) or a sworn statement confirming that they have not been and could not have been an associate of the repressive state apparatus before 1990 (for candidates from Slovakia).
Along with this call, the RI nomination form is also being distributed. It must be duly completed and sent or handed over with the signatures of the club president, the club secretary, and the proposed candidate. Upon receiving the nomination, the Nominating Committee will request information regarding the personal profile of each nominated candidate.
