My name is Theodor Petřík, and this year I am celebrating my 67th birthday.
I began my professional journey after graduating from the University of Chemistry and Technology in Prague, where I developed a systematic way of thinking and a scientific approach that has guided me throughout my life. After completing my studies, I spent ten years working as a research scientist, gaining deep insight into analytical chemistry and technology — fields that remain close to my heart.

After 1989, I entered the dynamic world of international trade. I was involved in establishing the Czech and Slovak representation of a foreign company, where I progressed from sales representative to director for the Czech Republic, and later for Slovakia as well. This phase of my career taught me how to lead teams, build bridges between cultures, and cultivate business partnerships based on trust, quality, and long-term cooperation.

I entered the world of Rotary in 2011, inspired by a colleague from Austria and later by a personal invitation from a friend at the Rotary Club Prague Old Town. After attending club meetings as a guest for several months, I was accepted as a member—and Rotary gradually became a matter of the heart for me.

At RC Prague Old Town, I served in various roles over the years: as club secretary (2012–2014, 2018–2019), president (2014–2015, 2017–2018), and assistant governor for the Prague area from 2018 to 2023. These experiences allowed me to gain a deeper understanding not only of Rotary’s structure and operations, but also of the strengths and potential of individual clubs and their members.

One of the most significant projects I have been involved in is the organization of charitable golf tournaments, especially the prestigious event held at the Casa Serena resort. The proceeds of CZK 275,000 were donated to a district project supporting therapeutic stays at the Dead Sea for children with atopic eczema. Moments like these demonstrate how Rotary can unite people of goodwill in service to those who need our help.

Throughout my Rotary membership, I have always believed in the power of personal connection, trust-building, open dialogue, and promoting the ideal of service above self. I strive to connect Rotarians and the public, and to inspire others through the values we share.

Outside of my professional and Rotary life, I enjoy sports — especially golf, hiking, and recreational tennis. I also have a strong interest in culture, particularly theatre, classical music, and literature. At present, I am involved in the preparation of the European Rotary Golf Championship, which will take place in Brno from June 30 to July 4, 2025.

I accept the role of District Governor of District 2240 with great respect, humility, and enthusiasm. I want to be a partner to all clubs—to listen, support, share, and provide inspiration. My vision is of a district that is vibrant, collaborative, and open to new challenges. I aim to support not only large-scale projects but also smaller club initiatives, as these often bring the greatest inspiration and energy.
