Two global grants in Dnipro completed under the “100 for 1000” initiative
Two global grants in Dnipro have been successfully completed under the “100 for 1000” initiative. The grants were implemented in cooperation with several neighbouring districts, and their total value reached approximately EUR 136,000. Our contribution amounted to USD 22,000 and was secured through cooperation between clubs, the district, and The Rotary Foundation. We are helping to deliver practical assistance where it is needed most.
Both projects were developed in response to the current needs of healthcare facilities in the city of Dnipro, which has long served as a key centre of care for patients from war-affected areas.
As part of the projects, two essential medical devices were procured:
The total volume of both projects reached approximately EUR 136,000. Our overall contribution amounted to USD 22,000, including club contributions, DDF matching under the “100 for 1000” initiative, and support from The Rotary Foundation.
A key role in engaging clubs was played by the “100 for 1000” initiative mentioned above, whose aim is to encourage clubs to take part in international projects. The principle is simple: a club contributes at least USD 100, and the district provides a one-off USD 1,000 top-up from DDF for a specific project. This mechanism is deliberately limited — it cannot be scaled up or repeated, so it is not a “200 for 2000” system, but rather targeted support designed to make it easier for clubs to take their first step into global grants.
The following clubs from our district took part in the projects:
RC Pardubice, RC Poděbrady, RC Košice, RC Ostrava, RC Olomouc City, RC Třebíč, RC Ostrava International, RC České Budějovice, and RC Prague International.
Some of the clubs contributed significantly above the basic USD 100 amount, further strengthening the overall impact of the projects.
Together, we succeeded in delivering projects that have a direct impact on the quality of healthcare as well as on the everyday work of doctors operating in the extraordinarily demanding conditions of war-torn Ukraine.
On behalf of the Rotary Foundation D2240 team, I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported these projects.
