A sightseeing journey full of history, wine, mountains, and powerful stories. From ancient Urartu to Lake Sevan – discover Armenia with all your senses. This 11-day tour of Armenia, from April 28 to May 8, 2026, will take you from the ancient Erebuni Fortress through UNESCO monasteries to tastings of ARARAT brandy and wine in the Ararat Valley.
Day 1 – Welcome to Yerevan
Jazz echoes through the city park, fountains murmur, and cafés pulse with life. Welcome to Yerevan – one of the oldest cities in the world.
After our morning arrival and a short rest, we begin with an introductory city tour. We will stroll along Arami, Abovyan and Buzand streets, see the Opera and Ballet Theatre, and admire the monumental Cascade – an open-air gallery of modern art. We will also visit the historic Old Kond district, a labyrinth of centuries-old houses and narrow streets that remains a living island of the past.
Day 2 – Roots of an Ancient Kingdom
On the second day, we delve into the history of the Urartian Kingdom. We will visit the Erebuni Fortress, founded in 782 BC by King Argishti I. From here, the story of present-day Yerevan began more than 2,800 years ago.
We continue to the Yerevan Fortress, whose history reflects dramatic transitions between Persian, Turkish, and Russian rule. The day concludes with a visit to the Noe Brandy Factory, including a tasting in cellars filled with oak barrels.
Day 3 – Wine, Faith and UNESCO
The Ararat Valley and the Armavir region will take us to the spiritual heart of the country. We will explore the ruins of the Zvartnots Temple (UNESCO) and visit the Etchmiadzin Cathedral (UNESCO), one of the oldest Christian churches in the world.
In the treasury, we will see relics connected to biblical stories – including the Geghard spear. The day beautifully connects the history of wine with Armenia’s deeply rooted Christian tradition.
Day 4 – Mountains and a Symphony of Stone
In the Kotayk region, we will visit the pagan temple of Garni from the 1st century AD and the rock-hewn monastery of Geghard (UNESCO), partially carved into the surrounding cliffs.
In the Azat Gorge, we will admire the natural monument known as the “Symphony of Stones.” Lunch with local hosts will include preparing traditional lavash (UNESCO-listed heritage) and a wine tasting.
Days 5–6 – The Cultural Pearl of Gyumri
On the way to Gyumri, we will stop at Dashtadem Fortress and the Yereruyk Basilica (UNESCO). Gyumri itself is the second-largest city in Armenia and an important cultural center.
We will visit the Black Fortress from the period of the Russo-Turkish wars and the Marmashen Monastery. Those interested may also visit the house-museum of artist Minas Avetisyan.
Days 7–8 – Monasteries of Northern Armenia
The Lori region offers the Lori Fortress and the early medieval church in Odzun. We then visit the Haghpat Monastery complex (UNESCO), an important medieval educational center.
We will also explore Akhtala Fortress and the Mikoyan Brothers Museum, where the legendary MiG-21 fighter jet is on display.
Day 9 – The Armenian Switzerland
Passing through Dilijan and Dilijan National Park, we arrive at Lake Sevan, one of the most beautiful high-altitude lakes in the Caucasus, situated at 1,916 meters above sea level.
Return to Yerevan.
Day 10 – The Spirit of Armenia in Brandy
Visit to the legendary Yerevan Brandy Company, producer of the famous ARARAT brandy, including a tasting session and introduction to the production process.
Afterwards, we visit the Genocide Museum and enjoy free time for shopping.
Day 11 – Departure Home
Transfer to the airport and departure home – with memories filled with mountains, the taste of wine, and stories thousands of years old.
