The last meeting of inbounds in D2240 for the year 2023/2024 started on Wednesday evening. Thirty-six students, a dozen of Rotex members and, of course, a few Rotarians gathered in Lednice for this occasion.
The program was packed from the very first day. After a communal dinner, a certificate ceremony was held for all the participating exchange students. The ceremony was all the more special with the personal attendance of the Governor of D2240, Katarina Čechová. The garden of Lednice Castle served as the perfect venue for the event.
The second day we spent in the water park where everyone enjoyed the day on water slides and in the pool. Tired but satisfied, in the early evening we returned to the Chateau where we were accommodated.
Friday was dedicated to cycling. Despite biking 47 km, the students maintained good spirits and smiles throughout the day.
On Saturday morning, we boarded the rafts just as the clouds parted and the sun rose overhead. We finished our trip down the Morava River with a steamboat ride, during which a delicious dinner was prepared for us.
The evening farewell program was emotional, with many participants shedding tears as it was their last time together. The recap of the past year, words of thanks, the traditional signing of flags, and endless hugs and goodbyes capture the essence of the evening in a few words.
We have no choice but to repeat our warmest thanks to all the students, Rotex, Rotarians, and host families – in short, to everyone who participated in the 2023/2024 exchange program.
THANK YOU!
For RYE, Mirek Barák and Ondrej Kollár
