On 10 December 2024, the Rotary Club Bratislava International participated in an initiative to support seniors at the state-run facility Home of the Autumn of Life on Hanulova Street in Bratislava. This visit underscored the importance of solidarity and the ongoing effort to enhance the quality of life for seniors who are often left without family support.
Representatives of the Rotary Club Bratislava International—President Andrea Szabóová, Gregory Fabian, and Juraj Židek—delivered Christmas gifts to 30 residents of the home who no longer receive visits from family members. Additionally, they brought fruit, coffee, and handmade Christmas wafers, which were warmly received by the entire community, including the facility's staff.
The Home of the Autumn of Life, led by Director Branislava Belanova, provides year-round residential social services for 200 residents, many of whom require comprehensive care. Alongside essential services such as accommodation, meals, and nursing care, the facility strives to support the residents’ recreational activities and spiritual needs.
However, the home faces significant challenges, including staff shortages, low wages for caregivers, and constrained financial resources. Among its most urgent needs are bedding, adjustable beds for immobile residents, and other essential equipment.
At the end of the visit, the club representatives pledged to explore additional ways to support the facility.
