Friends from Slovenia Visited Prague

At the end of March, RC Praha City welcomed a delegation from Slovenia to reinforce the growing partnership between Rotary Clubs from both countries. During their visit, a Czech-Slovenian evening featuring a concert of young musical talents took place, alongside the presentation of joint projects supporting youth and international cooperation.

At the end of March, friends from two Slovenian Rotary Clubs visited Prague for several days to further deepen the existing cooperation with local Prague clubs within the emerging ICC initiative and at the district level.

They attended the fourth Czech-Slovenian Evening, the main part of which was once again a joint concert by young musicians from Prague’s Academy of Performing Arts (HAMU) and the Ljubljana Academy of Music. This project, aimed at supporting young talents, is organized by the Rotary Clubs Prague City and Ljubljana Center. The next concert will take place next year in Ljubljana.

During the evening, members of Rotary Club Prague International and Ljubljana International also introduced their joint project www.speechlessreconciliation.org, which supports children from orphanages.

The event was personally attended by the Slovenian Ambassador, the Mayor of Prague 1, the Vice-Dean of HAMU, and the Governor of our Rotary District. Rotarians from outside Prague, such as those from Ostrava and Bratislava, also joined the occasion.

Following the concert, a reception and wine tasting from the vineyards of four neighboring district countries took place, along with an intimate charity auction in support of the HAMU Foundation. The evening raised a heartwarming and unexpected amount of 30,000 CZK.

During the visit, members of both District Golf Fellowships also connected, and a reciprocal trip to Slovenia is now in the works.
