My name is Dr. med. Petr Uher, Ph.D. I graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at Masaryk University in Brno and, after 1988, I moved to Austria. Following the recognition of my medical qualifications in both Austria and Switzerland, I led a reproductive medicine clinic near St. Gallen from 2000 onwards. After 2005, I founded clinics for human reproduction and genetics in Plzeň, Karlovy Vary, Prague, and Znojmo, some of which still operate today under the name FertiCare.

The ideas of Rotary were introduced to me by friends already before 1989, during my stay in Austria. After my return to the Czech Republic in 2005, I was accepted into the Rotary Club Plzeň, where I met outstanding personalities such as PDG and long-time Good News editor Dobro Zeman, or Prince Jaroslav Lobkowicz. In 2015, after settling permanently in Prague, where I live with my wife and two children, I became a member of the oldest Rotary club in Czechoslovakia – RC Prague. Being a member, and now the president of this club, is a great honor for me.

Many of my friends, including Milan Roch, Standa Kusý, and many others, contributed not only to the revival of the Rotary philosophy but also to the practical renewal of Rotary life in the Czech Republic. Yet, the natural course of life inevitably brings a decrease in strength and activity. That is why I see my task in this Rotary year as increasing our membership by welcoming professionals from various fields.

We already have candidates ranging from opera singers and public administration representatives to international managers. My vision is that through such diversity, our club will not only continue to support education but above all make education accessible to children and young people. For me personally, it is not only about creating opportunities for learning, but also about inspiring and nurturing a passion for knowledge in the younger generation. I firmly believe that an educated society will guide humanity towards responsibility and ethical prosperity.
