RC Český Krumlov
My name is Martin Walter. I first encountered Rotary as a student of archaeology, when the Český Krumlov club, in cooperation with Rotary Club Udine Patriarcato, arranged an internship for me at the excavation of Roman baths in Aquileia. At that time, Petr Barták was the club president – and it was he who eventually brought me into Rotary. Back then, I discovered both the kindness and the strength of this organization. The passion and dedication of some members fascinated me deeply.
I officially joined Rotary in 2020 as club secretary, a role I continued in the following year. In 2022, my club elected me president. Since 2023, I have been actively involved in Youth Exchange, which is very close to my heart. Thanks to this program, I personally got to know our current District Governor, Honza Bílek. Later, when the outgoing Assistant Governor, Jirka Karvánek, asked if I would be interested in cooperation, I did not hesitate.
As an Assistant Governor, I look forward to more frequent contact with clubs in the South Bohemian region. Last year in Český Krumlov, we organized the very first regular meeting of South Bohemian clubs – so everything seems to be falling into place.
Professionally, I serve as CEO and partner of the manufacturing company KBNK, which is part of the portfolio of the Czech private equity fund CEIP. This position provides me with both stability and the opportunity to take part in new acquisitions – a combination I consider ideal.
In my free time, besides being with my family, I enjoy cultural activities. For 21 years, I have been part of the organizing team of the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, and for the past five years I have also collaborated on the Festival of Chamber Music and the Baroque Night at Český Krumlov Castle.
I step into my new role with humility and joy. I believe that together with the clubs in our region, we can achieve many good things. I look forward to meeting all of you.
