In cooperation with Memory of Nations and the Czech International Hockey Camp, an ice-hockey camp was held in October 2025 in Benátky nad Jizerou for twenty 16-year-old boys from the war-torn Ukrainian city of Kherson. The project was initiated by Matěj Keka (RC Prague International) and Martin Kroupa (Memory of Nations) during their humanitarian visit to Ukraine in April this year.
The camp ambassador was Nagano Olympic gold-medallist Dominik Hašek, and the Ukrainian Ambassador in Prague likewise expressed his support. Former district governor Josef Melecký also played a pivotal role, helping to secure funding for the continuation of the project in Slovenia. The Dnipro Kherson team that attended the camp ranks among the most successful youth sides in Ukraine.
The project not only assisted specific young people but also bolstered the Czech Republic’s reputation in Ukraine and presented Rotary as a trustworthy partner in the field of humanitarian aid.
Thank you very much in advance for publishing this information.
Kind regards,
Matěj Keka, RC Prague International
