Thanks to the excellent organization of the 49th Rotary European Golf Championship and the extraordinary commitment to fundraising activities, the Rotary Club Bratislava International secured sufficient funds to purchase a Mercedes-Benz ambulance, which was handed over on November 23, 2025, to the non-governmental organization EQUITA, which will provide healthcare to people experiencing homelessness in Bratislava.
The organization of the 49th Rotary European Golf Championship had a clear goal from the beginning: to deliver more than just a sporting experience. For us at Rotary Club Bratislava International, this prestigious event became an opportunity to do something truly meaningful – an action that could resonate on the streets of our capital city with a clear Rotary signature. Thanks to the dedicated efforts of our club members and members of our satellite Rotary Club Trnava, we were able to implement a project that has an immediate and tangible impact on the lives of people experiencing homelessness in Bratislava - the purchase of an ambulance with medical equipment at a cost of €19,925.
EQUITA has been working since 2017 with people in difficult life situations – those who face social exclusion, poverty, or homelessness on a daily basis. Since 2020, their doctors and healthcare workers have been providing medical care directly in the field, wherever it can be delivered most quickly and effectively. Each year, they help hundreds of people who would otherwise have little chance of accessing healthcare. However, EQUITA relied on borrowed vehicles and improvised conditions. We wanted to change this – our goal was clear: to help EQUITA acquire their own functional vehicle, enabling them to work more safely, efficiently, and with dignity. The purchased Mercedes-Benz ambulance, already technically adapted for field healthcare, now drives through the streets of Bratislava, helping people experiencing homelessness.
It is a small but concrete support that can bring immediate relief to those in need. It required considerable effort from us, but the result is joyful, and we are very happy to see its impact.
On behalf of RC Bratislava International and its satellite Rotary Club Trnava,
