This year, the Rotary Foundation and the Rotary Club of Zlín supported families with children with disabilities in the Zlín region by providing developmental aids, educational materials, and equipment for a yurt used during summer programmes of the Early Care Centre EDUCO Zlín. The total value of the support reached CZK 59,500.
RC Zlín has long been a dedicated supporter of many organisations in the Zlín area, with families of children with disabilities being one of its key target groups. Through this project, the club once again strengthened one of its long-term priorities. A project of this kind had not been implemented before.
The project supported families with children with disabilities in the Zlín region who are clients of the Early Care Centre EDUCO Zlín. The organisation provides free social services to families with children with disabilities aged 0 to 7. It offers professional counselling to 130 families facing challenging life situations brought about by their child’s disability.
Thanks to this project, the centre was able to purchase aids based on the concept of Basal Stimulation, which early-care consultants use during their sessions. “The new aids bring joy not only to our consultants, but especially to the children and parents who are excited to use them,” says Šárka Štěpáníková, Deputy Director of the Early Care Centre EDUCO Zlín. In addition, the organisation furnished a consultation room with new pieces of furniture for initial intake meetings with new clients as well as for staff preparation.
The project of RC Zlín also provided the organisation with essential equipment for producing various aids, thereby supporting families with children who have disabilities or developmental difficulties. These include families of children with intellectual, physical, or multiple disabilities; autism spectrum disorder (ASD); neurodevelopmental disorders; communication impairments; children born prematurely; and children at risk of developmental delay due to biological, psychological, or social factors.
