Dear Rotary friends,
I am writing to you with an appeal for our joint support of two exceptionally meaningful global grants currently being established in Dnipro, Ukraine—a city that has become a key healthcare hub close to the front line.
For a club contribution of US$100, we are offering an additional US$1,000 towards the chosen project, and The Rotary Foundation will contribute a further US$800—so that your US$100 will leverage a total of US$1,900 in support.
Josef Melecký, Governor of District 2240, and Michal Sláma, representative of The Rotary Foundation, were instrumental in developing these two Global Grants. They were kept informed at every stage of preparation and took part in the joint online discussions. Both grants are now formally almost ready; only the financial backing remains to be secured. We are counting on the generosity of our qualified clubs to provide the much-needed humanitarian aid to the country that has been under attack for three years and four months, suffering the hardships of war and neighbouring our district.
Budget: approximately €36,000
This facility will deliver acute dialysis for both paediatric and adult patients. In wartime conditions, amid a growing number of severely injured civilians and military personnel, this is truly life-saving technology.
Budget: approximately €106,000
One of the largest hospitals in eastern Ukraine, Mechnikov treats several hundred patients every day. A modern ultrasound system will enable faster diagnostics and more targeted care.
These projects have been initiated by several districts as a practical expression of solidarity and a means of connecting neighbouring districts and clubs in the spirit of international cooperation.
Our main partners—Rotary friends from Poland and Lithuania—are shouldering the primary organisational responsibilities. The aim is to establish a model of local support that can inspire further joint initiatives.
In total, your US $100 will leverage US $1,900 for the project (net of transaction fees).
This opportunity is limited to a set number of participants, so please register your interest as soon as possible. Email your application to:

Higher contributions are most welcome. They will be credited within the Global Grants system, though additional club donations will not receive the same multiplier.
There are no further obligations on your part—our foundation team and partner districts will handle all organisational aspects.
If you’d like to take part, please let me know. Together, we can make a significant difference where help is needed most.
Kind regards,
Michal Sláma
