News from the RI Convention in Calgary:

Francesco Arezzo Introduced as RI President 2025–26

Greetings from the Rotary International Convention in Calgary, where the new President of Rotary International for 2025–26 was officially introduced and confirmed. Following the unexpected resignation of Mário César Martins de Camargo, the RI Board has appointed Francesco Arezzo of Italy as our incoming President.

At the Rotary International Convention in Calgary, Francesco Arezzo, a member of the Rotary Club of Ragusa, Italy, was officially introduced as the next President of Rotary International for the upcoming Rotary year.

The unexpected resignation of President-elect Mário César Martins de Camargo was announced on 8 June 2025, as shared in the recent letter from our District Governor Josef Melecký. Following this announcement, the RI Board held a special session and, in accordance with RI bylaws, selected a new President-elect from among the candidates who had been evaluated by the Nominating Committee in August 2023.

The presidential theme Unite for Good, originally introduced by Mário de Camargo, remains unchanged. It calls on all of us to be a force for unity in a world increasingly divided by politics, geography, and ideology. Rotary brings people together across cultures, faiths, and professions in a shared mission to do good.

Francesco Arezzo is an orthodontist in private practice and an active member of professional associations in Italy, Europe, and the United States. In the province of Ragusa, he serves as vice president of the National Association of Italian Dentists and previously led the local delegation of the National Trust for Italy. He holds the title of Knight of Honor and Devotion in Obedience within the Sovereign Order of Malta.

As a Rotarian for over 30 years, Arezzo has extensive international experience, having served as an RI Director, vice chair of the Joint Strategic Planning Committee, and as a Rotary learning facilitator. He is a Major Donor and Benefactor of The Rotary Foundation. He and his wife, Anna Maria Criscione, an entrepreneur in tourism, have raised two children.

Let us warmly welcome Francesco Arezzo to this important role and support his vision of a united Rotary in service of doing good.
