Weekend in Sirinhaem

Viktor Komárek from Rotary Club Ostrava International is currently enjoying his exchange stay in Brazil through Rotary Rye450. Viktor shares his experiences from his trip:

Our first destination was the island of Santo Aleixo. Given our group size, we took several boats to reach the island. The journey wasn't long as the island is quite close to the coast. Upon arrival, most of us wasted no time and headed straight to the sea to cool off from the intense heat. After some beach activities, we decided to explore the island's interior together.

True to form, I managed to get lost along the way.

When we reached a different beach on the opposite side of the island, I took a break in the shade. Upon returning, I couldn't find the group on that beach. Luckily, the island wasn't too large, so I retraced my steps back to the main beach where everyone was waiting, of course.

In the afternoon, we had a fascinating program lined up. Sirinhaém is home to a talented local wood sculptor, and we had the honor of visiting his workshop. Nido not only showcased his artwork but also gave us a behind-the-scenes look at the creative process.

To top it off, he even let us try our hand at wood carving ourselves.
