The first Orientation Meeting of the Rotary year 2024/25 was held in Martin.

On Sunday, November 3, 2024, the first Orientation Meeting of the 2024/25 Rotary year took place in Martin.

Over 100 participants attended, including 39 students preparing for a year of high school study abroad through Rotary Youth Exchange.

Topics covered were: Rotary and its programs, rules and guidelines for the Rotary Youth Exchange program, principles and family experiences in hosting international students, phases and effects of cultural shock (including reverse cultural shock), and advice from former and current Slovak and international students. Other discussions addressed challenges that students and their parents might face during the exchange, preparation strategies, practical tips, and administrative matters.

At one place, great people gathered – students with their parents, all interested in working on themselves. The wonderful students of "Outbound" personally presented, who have already studied abroad in Mexico and the USA, while a Slovak student, currently studying in Colombia in the 2023/24 academic year, joined online. Additionally, a former Brazilian "Inbound" student, who studied in Slovakia in the past, is now living and working in Bratislava, Slovakia, after completing her studies.

Thanks for the content of the training and excellent organisation go to the members of RYE Slovakia  n.o. , but especially to the members of the Rotary Club Martin.
