Dear Members of Rotary Clubs in District 2240,
On behalf of the Nominating Committee, I would like to ask you, in accordance with the Bylaws of Rotary International and the rules of the nomination process, to submit nominations of candidates for the position of District Governor for the 2028-2029 term.
The Nominating Committee is ready to receive nominations from clubs until midnight on 28 February 2026:
To comply with the established rules, the proposed candidate must be an active member of a fully functioning Rotary club in District 2240 and must have completed a full year as club president, or at least six months as the club’s first president. At the time of taking office, the candidate must have been a member of Rotary for at least seven years. The nominating club must have no outstanding obligations to RI or the District.
The club shall conduct an interview with the proposed candidate to verify that they are ready to assume the office of District Governor and that they are familiar with the requirements of the position. This includes the candidate’s ability to meet the intellectual, physical and financial requirements of the role, and their willingness to accept the responsibilities associated with it.
Clubs should avoid anything that could be interpreted as campaigning for their candidate, promoting them, or any other form of preferential treatment. If a candidate becomes aware of activities being carried out on their behalf, they must distance themselves from such activities and inform all parties involved.
In accordance with a resolution of the Council of Governors from January 2006, candidates for Governor are required to submit a certificate of good conduct (candidates from the Czech Republic) or a statutory declaration that they were not and could not have been collaborators of the repressive state apparatus before 1990 (candidates from Slovakia).
Together with this call for nominations, the RI nomination form is being sent out. It must be duly completed and returned or submitted with the signatures of the club president and secretary, and of the proposed candidate. Upon receipt of a nomination, the Nominating Committee will request information relating to the personal profile of each nominated candidate.
The Nominating Committee will meet by 21 March 2026 to review the clubs’ nominations and to meet with the proposed candidates. This meeting may take place in person or online. The Nominating Committee may also seek candidates on its own initiative in accordance with the RI bylaws.
