RC Bratislava International: Baking Wafers and Sharing Joy at Resoty

On Tuesday 9 December 2025, members of the Rotary Club Bratislava International, together with our international inbound students, met at Resoty – a resocialisation community founded by our late Rotarian friend Anton Srholec – to bake traditional Christmas wafers with its residents, people experiencing homelessness, and to share precious moments of closeness and mutual understanding.

In the pre-Christmas season, a time that naturally strengthens our bonds and our willingness to help others, the Rotary Club Bratislava International decided to spend an afternoon and early evening in the company of the residents of Resoty, a social services home whose mission and daily work carry forward the legacy of Anton Srholec, who dedicated his entire life to human dignity, solidarity and service to those in need.

Under the roof of Resoty, we prepared and baked traditional Christmas wafers together with people experiencing homelessness. The activity took place in an atmosphere of openness, joy and genuine communication. It was not only about baking, but above all about shared moments of conversation, laughter and human stories that enriched all of us.

A particularly welcome enrichment was the presence of our international inbound students from both our club and our satellite club in Trnava. Young people from Australia, Taiwan, Colombia, Brazil, Mexico and France brought great joy to the residents of Resoty and enthusiastically joined in the baking – even though none of them had ever baked Christmas wafers before.

The time spent at Resoty once again reminded us that the greatest value lies in human relationships, listening to one another and sharing our stories.
