As you all surely know, within our district, we provide services to the youth, among other things, by facilitating exchange programs. We divide exchange programs by their duration into short-term and long-term stays. Short-term stays include camps and family exchanges. You can find more information about short-term stays here: https://rye2240.org/vymenne-programy/kratkodobe-pobyty/.
And it’s in the following article that you can read about Vítek's experience at his camp. These activities are appreciated not only by the students but sometimes also by their parents. That’s why we’ve added a short letter from his mother.
If you are interested in organizing a camp within your club, don’t hesitate to contact Žiga Schmidt (editor’s note: Žiga replaces Honza Bílek after many years, as Honza is preparing for his role as governor for the upcoming Rotary year).

SUMMER CAMP IN HUNGARY
This summer, I participated in an 11-day Rotary camp in Hungary. On the first day, I arrived by train at the meeting point. It all started with a "Barbecue party," where I was initially shy and didn’t want to speak because I didn’t know anyone there. For the next few days, we went on bike trips and even took boat rides. I really enjoyed these activities, and I made my first friends during them. I stayed with one of them at a Hungarian family’s home that offered us accommodation. After the outdoor program, we spent 4 days in Budapest, the capital of Hungary. We visited many landmarks. Aside from the fact that it was very hot there, it was great, and I enjoyed it a lot. The organizers had the camp very well prepared. I appreciate the variety of activities. They were friendly to us, and we had a lot of fun. I definitely recommend it to students who enjoy sports and sightseeing.
Vítek
Dear Mr. Bílek,
I am sending you my son’s short article about the camp in Budapest and attaching a few photos. Once again, thank you for this opportunity. It was truly an important milestone in his adolescence. As a mother, I must highly praise the Hungarian Rotary section; they communicated with us several weeks before the camp itself. During the camp, we received daily updates and photos about the kids. I was also in contact with the Hungarian family where my son was accommodated before the camp started... Overall, it was wonderful, and I am immensely grateful.
Best regards,
MP
